COURSE CONTENT

The course combines hands-on practical engineering skills with learning the theory that underpins them. This is a winning combination that makes students like you highly employable in the eyes of the industry!

Get ready to gain skills, knowledge, and experience that will set you apart in the competitive world of engineering and ensure you get the university place or employment you dream of.

You will study 15 different engineering units, which will give you a good understanding of the breadth of engineering. This ranges from how to design and manufacture a circuit board to how to design and manufacture a component, writing a report, conducting an audit, and much more!

The compulsory units you will study are:

  • Engineering Principles

  • Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team

  • Engineering Product Design and Manufacture

  • Applied Commercial and Quality Principles in Engineering

  • Microcontroller Systems for Engineers

  • A Specialist Engineering Project

  • Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems.

The optional units you will study are:

  • Electronic Printed Circuit Board Design and Manufacture

  • Computer Aided Manufacturing and Planning

  • Energy Management

  • Mechanical Behaviour of Metallic Materials

  • Mechanical Behaviour of Non-metallic Materials

  • Manufacturing Secondary Machining Processes

  • Computer Aided Design in Engineering.

You will meet engineering specialists from different sectors such as Aggora catering equipment and engineers from local companies. You will also join us on trips to the Alton Towers, Disneyland Paris, CERN, Dyson, STEM centre and much more.
