Your guide to T Levels
Deciding what to do after leaving school isn't easy, especially when you're not sure what each option leads to.

If A Levels and traditional courses don't seem like the right fit for you, why not consider a blend of academic and hands-on learning with the exciting T Level courses offered at the University Collegiate School Bolton?

What are T Levels?

T Levels are an innovative alternative to A Levels that equip you with equivalent qualifications (3 A Levels) and are recognised by universities and employers nationwide.

These two-year courses mix 80% classroom study with 20% on-the-job training, providing you with a solid foundation of knowledge and the practical skills to match. At the end of it all, you'll earn a nationally recognised certificate detailing your achievements and grade from pass to distinction*.

Why Choose T Levels at the University Collegiate School Bolton?

We've tailored our T Levels in collaboration with leading industry professionals to ensure what you learn isn't just up to date but also meets high industry standards. Whether you’re interested in Dental Nursing, Adult Nursing, Health Studies or more, we offer a variety of pathways to suit your career ambitions.

The University Collegiate School isn’t just a place to study; it’s a hub of industry-standard facilities set up to mimic real-world environments. From our Health and Care ward to our dedicated Dental Lab, everything is designed to prepare you for the future of work in your chosen field.

How Do T Levels Work?

When you enrol on a T Level at the University Collegiate School Bolton, your programme will include:

Technical Qualification: This is the core of your T Level, focusing on the essential knowledge and skills for your chosen sector, along with specialist training for your future career. Your learning will be a mix of classroom lessons, hands-on workshops, and meaningful assignments, with exams to cap it all off.

Industry Placement: This is where T Levels really shine. You'll spend at least 45 days working directly within your industry, gaining valuable experience and making connections that can influence your career trajectory. We’ll pair you with an employer and a workplace mentor, and you’ll keep a logbook of everything you learn.

What Comes After T Levels?

Completing a T Level opens doors to higher education, apprenticeships, or direct employment, depending on your course and interests. Many students advance to degree-level studies, benefiting from the UCAS points earned through T Levels. At the University Collegiate School, we are proud to have strong professional links with the University of Bolton who will exclusively offer interviews to UCS students who have completed their course.

If you're leaning towards a higher or degree apprenticeship or direct entry into the workforce, our dedicated Employer Engagement Lead, Zohra Zaheer, has vast experience and amazing links with industry professionals, making your career pathway a smooth one.

At the University Collegiate School Bolton, we're committed to offering not just education but a pathway to your future career.
